SciFi and Fantasy Art Mother Nature at the Office by Jedediah Dougherty


	Acrylic on canvas, 2004. A painting of a nature spirit in her arboreal office, typing away, doing some kind of high-tech spirit work. (Note: the runes on her keyboard are the Norse Futhark runes, if I recall correctly. They are arranged in no particular order on the keyboard, like the English QWERTYUIOP.)

17 Sep 2004	Cdramey15	Loading... RUNES! The keyboard has runes on it! You just made me very happy. I love the analogous color scheme of this picture. It just looks so fresh. I like the way the wires coming out of her tech equipment look like vines. Or is it vines that look like wires? ...gah, headache. Very original idea. Jedediah Dougherty replies: "Hey, glad you like the picture- I wanted to do a sort of nature/tech image, and the runes seem to tie in with that pretty well, since they are supposed to be derived from twig patterns."

Although technically, the letters in the QWERTY system are arranged in order of maximum usage at maximum distance, that is, the most used letters are spaced at distances from each other to provide that no mangaling of keys would occur (typewriters had that problem). Anyway, I like your picture.
