This is a painting of the sea monster Scylla, with the upper body of a woman, the tail of a fish, and the mid body of a wolf (in this case an inflatable sea wolf). She is the mistress of foul weather and shipwrecks, shown here as a great goddess of the sea.

In your caption, you forget to mention the most important part, so I'll mention it for you. If a ship came within a certain distance of her, she summoned 6 crew members, whom her dogs brought. The sailors were briefly guests in her cave, and then she ate them. If a ship crashed into her cave, she ate the whole crew, and any passengers. The colors! Egad the colors! They're so, so beautiful. So rich. I want to eat them! I also love your women. Not all women look the same, and yours are a welcome addition to a world full of blonde 36-19-36 women. I think though, that this pic is my favorite because of the floatie pool toy. It's awesome.

:-) Jedediah Dougherty replies: "Thank you! This was a fun one to paint- the floaty pool toy was my solution to painitng Scylla with her body of a woman, mid body of a wolf, tail of a sepernt (fish?). So it's a sea-wolf floaty toy. Problem solved!"
