This was originally intended to be a portrait of one of my roleplaying characters (a fairly young rogue/mage with a bit more courage than wisdom), but I kind of got carried away.  :)  The doublet is modeled after my SCA fencing attire (and I should point out that you can fence quite effectively in long skirts... really..), and the swept hilt rapier after a sword in my own collection. .... and... ugh.. may I never need to paint dragon scales again, as they take *entirely* too long to paint by hand.

Also, check out  the detail shot in my gallery, since the dragon scales, the doublet and skirt patterns, the sword hilt, and little details like the grappling hook at her waist were kind of lost when down-sizing the picture.

Forget the girl, lol, look at the sword! Gods, the work on that rapier hilt is absolutely amazing. I would love to fight with a weapon like that at my side.

You did get a little carried away. Welcome to world of fantasy. Very great use of detail! Please tell me that the swept hilt isn't one of those cheap knock offs that aren't balanced and are made poorly (hence the cheap knockoffs)

First of I really like your artwork! I hope that you will continue to hone your skills and share your results. I love your attention to detail and your choice of colors. My favorite piece in your gallery would be Queen of Scavengers. I too use photoshop and I know how frustrating it can be sometimes to turn out art with it (as comparted to working with a pencil). But of course the end result at least for me is much more exciting than an equivalent pencil drawing so I keep trying to work with it.

Ok now on to the critique. Please know that as is I think this image is awesome. However one way that I think you could improve your drawings a bit would be to look at creating more structure in the face. I have noticed that on your paintings the face has less depth to it especially around the mouth area.

How would one go about doing that? Well I cant critique without providing some examples of what I am talking about can I? So follow the links below to get a better idea of what I mean by this. You will notice that in the images there are 3 C shapes used in the head construction. One near the lips, one below it, and then one at the chin. Creating this kind of structure in your head around the mouth can give it a little more form. You dont neccesarly have to exaggerate the affect as is shown in these images (although one could and they still look fine). I know for a beautiful young woman you might want to make the effect a bit more subtle. In addition you will notice that if you carry through the construction on both sides of the face this helps to create more strength to the image. So for example on the cheekbones if you show a corresponding contour on the side that is facing us (in your image) with some changes in the plane on the side of the face it helps tie two sides together. I can talk more about this sort of thing if you like offline. Hopefully the information imparted here will give you enough of an idea to know what I am talking about.

I'm not sure if anyone else has said it yet... but that window is really awesome (I want windows like that throughout my house)! And the dragon is really quite the sleek, lovely little thing.
The coloring is all nice, and you did a good job on the character's outfit. I think the reason the proportion might seem off is only because she's bending her legs beneath a skirt. I actually think it's quite good (that coming from a perfectionist)!

The face, the costume, and the dragon are great, but the pose seems a bit unnatural. otherwise great.

Great work! I love the colour design, it's almost a bir Art Nouveau.

Beautiful. Wonderful. Awesome. I love the colors! congrats on the Mod's Choice.

The pose doesn't look right for running; I think she should be up more on her toes, leaning forward (as people usually do when running, to get momentum and use gravity as an aid). Runners are almost never center-balanced. Other than that it's pretty good, I think. I like her sword, and the dragon thing behind her is cool.
