Kayligh and Roan walked a few more miles with laughter and talking between them. Roan stopped walking. Kayligh turned to consider her, then looked out to the road. A shadowed figure stood there unmoving. "Hail," he said, his voice deep. It almost sounded pleasant, but there was a dark sound there, too. The duo were at a loss, bandits didn't talk to you before they tried to rob you. Then again it was try to rob you. The shadowed man didn't notice the pause, because he didn't wait for a reply before going on. "Ahh, mistress De'Arbor! 'Tis been a long time indeed sense I have seen you!" Both heads looked to the other, each thinking the man was talking to the other one. The shadowed man walked, no, more of glided closer to Roan and Kayligh. He then reached out his hand towards Roan, and she recoiled slightly. As his hand touched her face he said, "You don't remember me, my dear?" Then almost as an after thought he added, "Ahh, but it's to be expected. They want the information you have." Roan sputtered, "Wha-, Who is they? And what information?" The man sighed, "It will be explained, come with me, back home." "I have no home," Roan growled softly. Kayligh, recovering from her confusion somewhat asked, "Who are you?" "I, am Triston Roark," said the shadowed man. He gave a regal and exaggerated bow before them, revealing a brooch much like Roan's and a small, finely crafted dagger at his side. There was no doubt that many more daggers were hidden throughout his person. Roan shuddered as she felt something run up her leg. There was a squeak on her shoulder. A little ferret was sitting, quite at home, on her shoulder. It looked remarkably like the one in the dream. To test this Roan flattened the wild tuff of hair. Roan got a look from the ferret, she didn't even know ferrets could give looks like that. It ruffled the hair back up. Triston smiled and laughed softly, "Lil' Rebel remembers you. Surely you must remember him? You were closer to it then any of them." Roan searched her memory. She vaguely remembered the name "Lil' Rebel".
Lil' Rebel seemed quite comfortable. He was soon curled into a ball and dozing on Roan's shoulder. A low ferret snore was emitted, barely audible. This seemed a hazardous perch to maintain, much less be able to sleep. As Roan turned though, Lil' Rebel was not disturbed in the least.
Both Roan and Kayligh were at a loss. Could they trust the man? Who is they? And why is Roan mixed up in this? There was a quick glance between the two, then it was decided. "We will go, but on one condition." Roan said with all the force she could muster. "Name it and it is yours." Triston added without so much as flinching at what the cost may be. "No harm shall be done to Kayligh. I shall not say whatever information I supposedly have if anything happens," Roan added quickly. This brought about two things, the first being a slight gasp from Kayligh and the second a shocked look from Triston. While Kayligh was able to bite back her comment, Triston could not. "I'm appalled! To think that we might hurt invited guests! It is just not done!" Triston spouted off angrily. He turned and stormed off with the two in tow. A little while later Kayligh turned to Roan and in a hushed whisper asked, "What do you mean no harm comes to me? I can take care of myself." "Yes I know, but if your busy taking care of yourself then who's going to take care of me?" Roan said wistfully and without looking up from the path.
