Here is where you will find information about the Riders of the Nachtlos. A group of my own design. The group is RP'd by a few people now, and I'm hoping for more. This was an introduction to Asiard for the room that I'm based in.

Night with the eyes of a horse
that trembles in the night,
night with eyes of water
in the field asleep is in your eyes,
a horse that trembles
is in your eyes of secret water.
Eyes of shadow water,
eyes of well water,
eyes of dreamwater.
Silence and solitude,
two little animals moon led
drink in your eyes,
drink in those waters,
If you open your eyes night opens doors of musk.
the secret kingdom of the water opens
flowing from the center of the night.
And if you close your eyes, a river,
a silent and beautiful current,
fills you from within,
flows forward, forward,
darkens you.
Night brings its wetness to beaches in your soul.

(Octavio Paz, transl Muriel Rukeyser)

The familiar words that had been spoken to Asiard rung in his ears as his mount, Vadrienduil, carried him just south of Dragondale City. The sun was beginning to set, and he chose to keep his horses change in private - as the City was not quite used to it yet. He had advised the other Riders of the Nachtlos accompanying him on this journey to do the same. It could be a useful scare tactic, but when one wants to be an observer, it is best not to do anything that would make one be observed. Asiard and his three companions had ridden into the City three days before to get a feeling for the place before deciding to stay and seek out what they could. The City was too large to be taken by force by just the Nachtlos Riders. They numbered a mere seven. And the City had a military force. Even with the advantage of the night, they had no hope in taking this place, or even a section of this place by force. Perhaps small time thievery would not be noticed, but Asiard hated to demean himself to such small time criminal actions.

Asiard sat up in his saddle and glanced around to see if one of his two companions had found their way to this place, but he saw neither of them. As he watched the sun dip further in the sky, he patted Vad and dismounted. He never grew tired of watching the transformation of the Nachtlos, especially Vad's transformation, he turned and loosened the saddle and all manners of tack that would impede his change. Asiard then turned and looked his Nachtlos mount.

The sun dipped below the horizon and Vadrienduil rose up on his back legs and kicked with his forelegs - beating the air in front of him. A mighty neigh of battle came from his bridled mouth, and he seemed to grow larger. His natural presence was commanding, but this larger version of himself was empirical. The hair of his mane and tail lengthened to compensate, and then some. His mane hung well to his knee joints and was jet black - as was his hide. All this was accomplished in a matter of seconds that he was able to keep himself balanced on his backlegs. He stomped his weight back down on all four, and in that instant, Asiard's eyes took on a glow that seemed to make his face a touch more frightful than it already was.

Asiard walked back to his Nachtlos mount and tightened all the tack, and then placed his foot in the much higher stirrup. It was a gigantic leap that took him to the back of Vadrienduil, but to Asiard it seemed efortless after so many years. He would his fingers through the lengthy mane that his mount now had and left the reigns loose. This too he had learned that his mount preferred. He pointed his horse back toward the city with a thought and let his mind wander to other things.

He had been able to aquire knowledge on the City's sources of power. It was a monarchy with several Queens. But it seemed that other organizations ran the city. There were guilds to cover many areas, and individuals that seemed to wield a great amount of power. These names were whispered in taverns so that the bearer wouldn't swoop down on them. The only guild he was truly worried about were the Mages. He could handle thieves and warriors, for he himself had experience in both those fields, and his horse gave him an advantage to most. Asiard would have to discuss the situation with his second.

He sat up taller in his saddle and held himself like he was a major player in the City, which he intended to become in very short order.
