A companion piece to my Bronze Mermaid Nouveau, and more metals will follow...  As with the Bronze mermaid, appearances are deceptive. It doesn't look too terribly detailed, but there are 12 layers involved (mostly to create the transparent fins effect, but also to tint shadows and highlights, the scales are on a separate layer from the rest of the line art, etc.), and digital inking like that is INCREDIBLY time consuming. So, basically, don't expect thenext one too soon, especially since I have begun work on a couple webcomics.

OMG - I never really undrstood the layering technique before (I’m a viewer, not an artist). Now have a whole new respect for your art and that of others in Elfwood. I cam see the enourmous amount of time these things take. Thank you for enlightening me with the slideshow.

nose and mouth are crooked but the body and everything else makes it look a million times better.great job!i think i might try and do your style with oil pastels and outline them in black.and im crazy for mermaids too
