Everyone's favourite shapeshifting international terrorist and assasin - Mystique! like the others, this was done on the request of Nixon over at X-Assault to be the new in game graphic and virtual trading card for Mystique. She is in her new duds becuase I got Uncanny X-Men #405 where she is revealed to be behind the mayhem in the X-Corps, the day i drew this, and the new outfit was hella sexy! but i changed the face and hair in mine to be prettier, and kinda sultry and dangerous

Although her face and skin coloring are very close to the original Marvel comics Mystique the outfit just doesn't belong on her, especially those weird looking shoes. Just my opinion but I actually like the movie version of Mystique better because she was more realistic and scientifically plausible since any creature capable of altering the physical form at will would have no use for clothing, no matter how stylish. Maybe you could do another modelled after the movie version. I'd love to see that.

:-) Jill Johansen replies: "hey, don't blame me, this is the outfit she was wearing in the comics quite recently. not her current one anymore, (pretty much the same, but wiht boots instead of heels, and in black) but it was at the time that i drew it. "

I apologize for the misunderstanding. I haven't looked at a comic book in years. I was basing my critique of your picture mostly on the animated series that I saw on TV back in the mid 1990's and the more recent X-men movies. My intention was not to denegrate but merely to offer constructive critism that might give you inspiration for a future rendition of the character. I hope you understand.

In response to the Anonymous comment on July 27, I was basing my comment on the X-men cartoon that ran during 1995 and 1996. In that series I saw Mystique in a white full length dress with a skull shaped belt buckle.

To "an excellent artist", I would like to inform you that the character of Mystique is just that; a character, and thus can be portrayed in any outfit that the artist so chooses. So there!!

wow jill wow. it looks like a Mystique lol oh and I agree with foremost’s comment, just because it is a fan art picture, does not mean that it has to be portrayed in any one of the actual costumes that the character wore in the show, if your good enough to draw your own costume, then why not put the skills into effect? nice job though Jill I give it a 10 and 2 thumbs up!!
