"This pic is mine!! mine mine mine!!! Drawn only for me...don't touch! errm... yeah ok (sorry bou' that) I spent a helluva long time doing this picture and am happy to this day with the results. I could have chosen a more dynamic pose but it looks great to me. Quite possibly the most realistic gryphon I've done."
For those who have nothing more to say than "It sucks" or "I've seen better" or suggested checking out "real" artists pages, perhaps you should read descriptions more carefully, or even pay attention to the progress an artist has made in the rest of the gallery before selecting one picture to insult. This picture was made over five years ago when I was still a minor. I keep it in here as a reminder of what I believed used to be "realistic" when I began drawing gryphons. Hell, I think I may have been 13 at the time and not all aspiring creators of masterpieces are perfect modest BRILLIANT artists at that age.

I don't often check my elfwood, but I was shocked at how rude some people are when leaving comments. Honestly, get a life and have something more constructive to say. In fact, I think I could think of a few constructive words I'd like to use against such commenters, but I will refrain. Because I've matured. And thats what mature people do instead of insulting people at random. *LAWLZ* Oh hell, I just read my old keywords and this is the exact quotte: "this picture was my first ever real looking gryph."

I love the picture of the gryphon. The detail and realism that you put into it are phenomenal. I think its very cute. Those that say it sucks, are honestly smoking something!

Love the detail. Most realistic I've ever seen, and believe, I've seen alot. Keep it up!

I think its awesome! A perfect representation of a gryphen! There needs to be more gryphon stuff on the internet. Did you know St. Thomas Aquinas did posit in Summa Theologica that the existence of these creatures (griffins, unicorns) are absolutely true and reside in the separate and unique flora a fauna of heaven?

The lion's paws on the griffin are phenomenal, however most varieties of griffins have a set of eagle's talons in the front. Just something to think about if you're planning to get better at drawing griffins.

My first thought about this picture was that the griffin had ears like a doberman pincer. But a look closter and I can see how great it really is. This is a very good drawing, and I can see that you worked hard on it. The result is beautiful and about as realistic as a six limbed flesh tearing flying beast can get!
P.S.I agree with "right..." you really need to be more modest, that's probably why a lot of people say the griffin is bad when really it's super good.

Very good.

Sponge, I must correct you on something. "Gryphon" is the half-bird half-lion with LION paws.

You must be talking about Griffins, who have eagle talons. And this person said he was drawing a Gryphon, not Griffin. Two whole different things considering how close they sound.

Ooo, beautiful!
the wings turned out really well, and i love the expression!

I love it! I’m a huge fan af gryphons. To everyone who said you need to be more modest, if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all. You worked hard on this pic, and I’d be proud to if I turned out something this good too.

A wonderful drawing, the shading is excellent and I very much love the pose. 1 However, to the above commenter "Major Cooke," I must make this point - gryphon is another correct spelling of the word griffin, the two are not different things. While it is true that there are griffins with the front paws of lions instead of those of eagles, this does not mean that they have a different name, as the term gryphon can just as well be applied to the ordinary form of beast. As you can see in the below dictionary definition, gryphon is simply another correct spelling of the name of that same creature.

grif⋅fin
1   /ˈgrɪfɪn/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [grif-in] Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun Classical Mythology.
a fabled monster, usually having the head and wings of an eagle and the body of a lion.
Also, griffon, gryphon.
