So actually it would require powersuit with hydraulics to stablilize hand and actually be able to use it. I guess chainsword really are poor weapons. Well, they look cool anyway " | |
| 7 Dec 2004 | Anonymous | Loading...Well, the wielder is wearing powered armour of some sort... of course, it presumably isn't made specifically for chainsword wielders (waste of space and money for one weapn) so having a sort of double chainsword, with one set of blades spinning in the opposite direction of the other (there'd still be a little moment perpendicular to the blade but it wouldn't matter much). Make it out of the right materials (monomolecular carbon, which there's been a lot of work in lately, could work nicely) and it should chew through armour well enough. Admittedly, a nice minigun'd usually be more practical but, as you said, they look cool. Jani Jinxter Mutikainen replies: "So true - but I think that chainswords effect would be more of a psycological sort than actually be practical killing tool. Like you mentioned minigun ... you can be efficient in much greater distance than with chainsword. Perhaps chainsword would be more of a leader's symbol that would strike fear to enemy's heart." | |

| 22 May 2006 | Space marine | Loading...Wh40k chainswords work, the cetrefugal force idea would throw the wielder about a bit but then it wasn't a weapon designed to be used with any finesse, if used by a space marine he's so strong it doesn't matter anyway, eldar can compensate by antigravs and anyhone else just swings and hopes Jani Jinxter Mutikainen replies: "Thanks for your comment. I like that this picture raised some discussion." | |
