Wow I think it’s the first time I see an underwater scene that we actually see the surface from that point of view...and that it looks sensible; THAT looks phenomenal 1 I love the texture of that skin; always do 18 The only thing I have to point out is the less-than-perfect quality of his hand, which I think is a tad too small ... Other than that, well, Cheers! 6

:-) Joel N. Barkley replies: "Your observation skills are spot on Miss Deros, after all the hours of painstaking work on the torso and the surface of the water (which fought me a good long while) I simply didn’t have the attention span to do the hand like I normally do. I periodically look at this painting and try desperately not to look at the hand. It does need some help.
P.S. You are the only person who has ever used the term sensible about anything I’ve ever done. No one will believe it! Thank you!"

lol don’t get all depressed about the hand, though. I see it as a minor detail in that case... the eye is more drawn to his chest, then up to where he’s ’looking’ at 1 I’d been staring at it for a good while before the hand started bugging me at all 12 The effort and time you put into your works always shows; no matter how un-sensible it may seem (lol!) And keep that cookie for comfort 1 1 1

:-) Joel N. Barkley replies: "No, I am afraid its just too much to bear! (neck bent way back, hand across forehead) gloom, despair, agony on me, deep dark depression, excessive misery, if it weren’t for bad luck I’d have no luck at all! (swoon, long heavy drawn out sigh). And end scene: " I would like to thank the academy....""

Niiice... very nice. His hand isn’t that bad, really. But, I know how we artists are! "Oh mygosh! That line ISN’T perfect!! *tears hair* They’re gonna throw me into the gutter... oh... help... *melts*" ... Yeah... I tinker in art.

By the way... where’s his hair? 22

:-) Joel N. Barkley replies: "You are so right! Even so, when you strain this hard on a piece you NEED it to be as fabulous as possible . I suppose its how I motivate for the next piece. Hair? Hair is so common place. It makes my pieces less supernatural or something. I can do hair, but it just makes things anti-climactic for me.
Thanks for leaving a comment and please visit again!"

By the way - great anatomy. Almost too great, but... it’s fun to make them perfect (even if the rest of us poor mortals aren’t all Beckhams).

:-) Joel N. Barkley replies: "I’m sorry, but I have to get back to Mount Olympus right now. No time to chat. I am ever so grateful that you stopped by though.
Love,
Zeus

Back to reality ( sets thunder bolt down gently) Listen you.(chuckle) I am no Beckham. I have had a pencil and a brush in my hand continuously for close to 30 years. I will admit to entertaining a sometimes unhealthy need for perfection over the years. I recommend you chat with Lady Deros about my deification. She seems to be in charge of that process. Har har!
Thank you for taking the time to comment. It truly does help me motivate for future art.
Peace."
