Tag As FavoriteComment		30'x40' acrylic The Emperor's crown, though it looks like an inanimate jewel, is actually a very unique life form, existing in this universe because of its symbiotic relationship with the king. It protects him, hiding in plain sight, allowing only a very few to approach. In this moment it lifts its protective mantle to allow the king to listen to his advisors report.

Aww my Gawd, the expressions are SO intense!! the play of shadows is awesome and gives a great effect. And that background... 22 So much detail and lovely colors. Everything is lovely to the eye in there, awesome job as always 1

It looks like you took pictures of actual people, photoshopped it, painted...
The inspiration is overwhelming.

:-) Joel N. Barkley replies: "All of my art is hand drawn and hand painted. No air brushing, no photoshop. I don’t even know how to run the photo shop on my computer. It just sits there gathering digital dust. I work from photos of models, everything is free hand drawn, with painstaking care. I takes hours to do each face and days to do an entire torso. I have ridiculous standards for myself. I guess that makes me an ego maniac! Oh, well, at least there’s art to enjoy! Thanks for stopping by!"
