You need only sit and listen. The tree of life and knowledge knows all but tells only the most patient of partitioners.

My favourite among all your amazing pictures. I cannot stop to look at it. Thank you.

:-) Joel N. Barkley replies: "You are so right! This one is soothing to look at I feel and find myself staring at on occasion."

Now THAT is cool. Love the idea. To me the tree seems to be cut out of the picture, like empty areas in the shape of a tree. Which is a really interesting effect. The chair looks kind of eerie. I'm wondering what viewers would think about this if you haden't used a discription to say what was going on. It would sure hold my attention for a few minutes, wondering. The stormy skies and flat background add a lot to the surrealistic feeling. And the chair gives it a distinct Salvador Dali feel.

:-) Joel N. Barkley replies: "This is an important image to me and even though its painted less realistically than majority of my art, it is always a crowd pleaser, which, I must say, suprises me! In a good way, I mean. Thank you for taking the time to view my art and leave a comment, it is greatly appreciated."

I added your picture in my tour : yesterd.: Most remarquable trees of Elfwood

:-) Joel N. Barkley replies: "Thank you so much Anne!! I love hearing from you, I do apologize for taking so long to get back to you, I’ve been tremendously busy. "

Beautiful strong colors. A brave and unnatural painting. Strange. The chair is out of perspective but that only gives it a Dali-ish feeling.

:-) Joel N. Barkley replies: "This piece was something I drew years and years ago and finally turned into a painting. I must agree, it is a bit surreal."

There is an amazing sense of lonliness in this piece. Full of feeling....

:-) Joel N. Barkley replies: "It does feel a bit isolated doesn’t it. Some day I want to paint a really big version of this image. Thank you for visiting my gallery!"

I agree...definitely a special image

:-) Joel N. Barkley replies: "Thanks, its special to me too."

Ooh, nice! I like the surreal feeling of it, and the sky is beautiful, partly cloudy and partly full of stars!

:-) Joel N. Barkley replies: "Thank you for pointing out the stars! One of my favorite things to paint!"

i would listen, if it would tell me anything... i like to learn. i just hate the work that leaning requires. school is the longest part of anyone’s life. then work. and that is never fun to me.

:-) Joel N. Barkley replies: "I am the opposite. Its odd to think about it this way, but I hated school from K-12 and the four years of college after. Now I am back to taking classes again. Go figure."

*Stares* Fascinating...*Looks at it upside down as well* I don’t know what it is that makes this picture so Veeeery interesting! I love pictures like that! 1 I also really like how you did the stars & clouds! They are quite lovely! ^_^

:-) Joel N. Barkley replies: "I never imagined that this little painting would become such a favorite amongst all the rest. I am glad you like it and thank you for leaving such a great comment! Thanks for stopping by!"

somehow it seems like instead of the tree being in the foreground, the clouds or mist or whatever seems to be in the front. strange illusion, but really cool. love it
