This is superb - nothing like a good sci-fi voyage picture! How did you start with this - it looks almost like a render of a 3D model but isn't Ulead the photo-manipulation package you get bundled with Trust scanners? I am very fond of it but it has an eccentric interface - ours has half its buttons and dialogs in French!

Interesting and striking. Kinda makes me think nthey are planetary destroyers and that swirl is a black hole they opened to destroy their enemies on the surface. Or maybe its an exploration team coming from that planet assaulted by crazy native pigmy ninjas, what ever it is it look awsome

Strange it looks like it should come from a game

I must agree with Allandaros, but I also need to add that your digital work is done with a lot of imagination and quite some skill too. Some little defects might be there nut on the whole you`re doing well. You shoudn`t have too much trouble not doing these mistakes in other pics of yours. And congrats! - you`re on of the few in this site to explore the Sci Fi theme and not the fantasy one. I myself prefer fantasy and draw them too - I just can`t do these ships!!! 5

Have you read Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card, and the sequels? Those are some of my favorite books, and this pic reminds me of them.

Hmm...I must add in a dissenting viewpoint to these comments, regretfully.

The lighting on the ships seems off...the top ship has lighting coming on it from the top, but the lowest one has lighting coming on it from the right. This is especially jarring when you have the lens effect on the star behind the top ship - but no lighting on the top ship to create that effect.

The lowest ship also seems to have a bad contrail...it looks like it's curving around.

That said, I really like your ship design. Really, really like it. They strike the right balance between complicated widgets on the hull and aesthetic ship. They LOOK right (except perhaps for the lowest starship).

I hope these comments help. Keep up the SF work!

Looks like the planet shall soon go boom.
Heh.
The three ships emerge from the war on the other planet.(?)

A strange thing about this I just noticed: the planet they are leaving looks like Earth (the landmass resembles the northeastern American coast. Interesting idea, shows a different perspective.
