some people may be firmiliar with the basaliskk a large snake that freezes or kills people by looking them in the eye. Well this is a similar version of that creature  wich i have heard called a cockatrice.  Unsespecting animals and humans wander into its territory wich might at first resemble an old grave of worn stones  in the semblance of animals and people ,children and women  and farmers, some dressed out of date and some that might seem all to firmiliar.  they might come upon a large bird resembling a chicken with scale like feathers and  be pulled into its mysteriose hypnotic gaze. while their minds are lost in the gaze of such a fantastical creature they do not realize that they ae slowly turning to stone but by the time they do it is to late and the stone freezes their breath and being able to breathe no  longer they die. And the Cockatrice has one more creature for its collection.
