Blood-red and 900 feet long, Great Chien-Tang is commander of all the River Dragons. This is my first serious attempt at an Oriental dragon, so forgive any mistakes - I know these dragons have particular characteristics and a specific number of scales and claws. I just think they are so beautiful, I had to try! Ink and coloured pencil, as usual, this really took it's toll on my right thumb and forefinger!

woah. . .he's magnificant! you acually managed to capture the power and beauty of this god-like being on a piece of paper. something I have yet to do.

2 Rachel E. Johnstone replies: "Wow - thanks, Kris!"

6 Rachel E. Johnstone replies: "Is that good or bad?"

Wow--I would LOVE to be able to draw dragons like that! SO beautiful. Mine all end up looking like big snakes, which gets boring after awhile.

18 Rachel E. Johnstone replies: "Snakes are good. My brother had a snake but she recently escaped and is probably lost forever. Shame."

I believe that if they have five claws they are considered royal dragons, and only appeared on the emperors items and such. Four claws were seen on more common wares. I believe it was taken highly serious, where anyone using the five toe motif was put to death back in the dynasty's. *giggles* Excellent drawing, and beautiful color. Great work 2

57 Rachel E. Johnstone replies: "Er, thanks. Execution is a little, well, over the top, isn't it? Do I have to go into hiding?"

6 Rachel E. Johnstone replies: "Errrm...Why not? "

Asian style dragons do usually have antlers my dear, dear Vynn. ^_^ Anyway! It makes me happy! ^o^ Very pretty! And furry! XD

1 Rachel E. Johnstone replies: "Hurrah! Thank you for defending my antlers! And I am pleased my fluffy dragon makes you happy."

I like how you've sort of incorporated elements into this- the fiery sun, the flying dragon in the air, and the water. I don't know if it's intentional, but it looks cool. The antlers and the face in general are well-done. Cheers!

29 Rachel E. Johnstone replies: "Thank you very much, Donna. It wasn't intentional with the elements - I'm not that clever 1 hope it's still cool!"

18 Rachel E. Johnstone replies: "Thank you, Kurt, I’m glad he makes himself noticed."
