Of a faerie who is betrayed by the one she loves, a man who lives outside the safety of woodland. He does regret what he has done but cannot release her from her martyr...

In search of salvation

I grasp a touch of angels

At a glimpse of your caress

Droplets and beads of tranquility and calm

Trickle down autumn colored leaves

And I leave the woodland

To meet a whole new world

I recognize, with vivid reconciliation

Its peril, risks and dangers

But as I soar and glide passed trees

Balm and solace comfort me

Sequins of radiance glisten in the mist

Whilst my heartbeat slowly fades

Thoughts of repentance dance inside my head

And I pray for liberation

Foolish as I was

Captured I'll forever be

Never again shall I fly

Shall I sore

Never again shall I hurt anymore

Betrayed and deceived

I beg of you why

But what should I say to make it right?

I love you

And love you I shall

For all eternity

Until all that is left

Other than faded memories

A mere façade of veneer and emptiness

How can a poem be sad and hopeful at the same time? Somehow you manage it. The forest imagery of this story is wondeful and the you fill the reader with the emotions of the narrator. Truly a wonderful poem.

In your summary under the title, you call the faerie a martyr: why? Is it the sad state of her death? Or is it how she remained faithful to her love right to the end?

.... How sad. YOu do very nice goth work... Are you sure you are writing children's books? I just wonder cause I like how you write, but your stories and poems are normaly quite dark.

This poem makes me wonder who she fell in love with and how he captured her.

neat... like the other review said.. forboding yet hopeful.

Hello to you! I must say that this poem is extremely beautiful, vivid, and permeated with a melancholic feeling that somehow manages to avoid cliché. I ask of you one thing which I feel unworthy to ask; I ask that I be allowed to translate your poems into french and Russian so that others might be enawed by the beauty of your work. You are of course free to peruse my own work of translations to decide for yourself if I am someone you would trust with the wonders of your pen.

ever enawed-
Sasha

~ ‘But as I soar and glide ***passed*** trees’ << Mayhaps “past”?
~ ‘Shall I ***sore***’ << “soar,” methinks...?

Not a style I like, but not bad for the style it is. *shrugs* Yeah. Self-Proclaimed Hater of Poems here. So sorry. So may kick me now, if you wish. *cringes*

:-) Jorieke 'JoSav' Savelkouls replies: "Actually. It's supposed to be passed and sore. It sounds alike, but the meaning symbolises her pain, her departure. But maybe I shouldn't have done so, maybe it turned out the wrong way. you can hate my work all you like, that's okay with me. I for one am very picky with work I advize others to read, which is the main reason I don't have a link list up here."

I love both the imagery and the emotion in this piece. Especially that last stanza. Good work!
