| 24 Oct 2011 | James David Casey | Loading...Oh you like Secret of NIMH too? It’s by Don Bluth-he made good movies in the 80’s....in the 90’s...well he went down hill :\ It’s a shame cause NIMH is complex, beautiful and a alternative to some Disney films. My fav. is probably the Land Before Time-a personal childhood film. A bit sad, but good...wow I’m feeling sorry for something that’s millions of years old John R Wenzel replies: "Titan A.E. wasn’t exactly shabby either . . .
The initial reason for Don’s departure from Disney was over a disagreement over replacing artistry with dependence on technology in animation production; it’s still a running argument in animation circles as the happy-medium between to 2 schools continues to be elusive due to production time/cost demands. I doubt the clash between classical and digital will ever be fully resolved to everyone’s satisfaction and few production houses are capable of shelling out the kind of money to make film at that level anymore. | 26 Oct 2011 | James David Casey | Loading...I heard something about how Bluth was unhappy about the cheaper and more tech-dependant methods Disney was using. It’s a shame he isn’t making films any more... Haven’t heard of Titan A.E...but it looks quite entertaining. I also liked Anastasia--not historically acurate, but it is quite exciting and engaging. John R Wenzel replies: "From what I can tell Don’s main thing of late has veen towards education and passing on the craft to a new generation. http://donbluthanimation.com/
Many have referred to Titan A.E. as the first American Anime because of its visual style and plot aimed at an older audience." | |
