"Entreri & Jarlaxle" by Julia Doering

Awesome sketch, even though i like to think of entreri as sporting a goatee. You've really nailed the essence of those two characters, more so than any of the book covers to date. I love the way you contrast entreri's typical angry-at-nothing-in-particular attitude with jarlaxle's devil-may-care flippancy. It's a great visual for the drow's method of pushing a conversation to the limit for his own amusement, and artemis's balance of acceptance and annoyance with jarlaxle.

(and for the record, you positively aced the clothing, from the assassin's jeweled dagger to the drow's obviously non-magical plume)

loveitloveitloveitloveitloveitloveitloveitloveitloveitloveit I too, am a diehard Salvatore and lockwood fan. i have all of the salvatore books, and I have a signed painting from lockwood. It's "draconimicon" or something, check it out on his site. Anyways, i love your pic. I can't draw anything at all. I love how you dis charon's claw (spelling?) and the vampiric dagger. I really like your jarlaxle, and i like the flow of their clothing. I like how you have captured the scene, it's exactly what I thopught of it whjen I was reading it. Entreri and jarlaxle standing on the parapets, Entreri sulking, jarlaxe acting his usualy flamboyant self. It's perfect. I'd kiss you, but that would be weird. Most other pictures of jarlaxle or entreri butcher them and make me cry a little bit, but this makes my cry for a whole new reason. You are truly an amazing artist. This is by far the best picture i have seen on this sight. I know that it sounds like i'm ranting, but i really do feel that way. You are amazing, if you see this post, email me ok? Julia Doering replies: "Thank you very much, that's most kind of you! I spent some time on the faces (erasing and redoing them) until I felt comfortable with their expressions. I'm glad you like them as well and that the characters are recognizable.

I think I'll print it out and glue it to the PotWK book cover. Yep. And then it'll dissolve due to too much drooling....
Just perfect, really. Artemis, my dear, you can just see how "these weird feelings stuff" is eating away at him... I just want to hug him - but my will to live is stronger.
On the other hand, Jarlaxle might save a maiden in distress - but he also might just help Artemis getting rid of the body. So nah. I'll admire from distance....

Ok i dont want to sound like a jerk because this is a really good picture but like an artist I am just here to give you some critique. I think your proportion is a little off like in entries arms. Their is also a little proportion problem with the face but I am assuming you are going for more of anime look so it fits. Also push your contrast a little more it could use a few more darks matching those of the hilt of charons claw. The picture over all is very good and i think pretty successful. I like your clothing especially jarlaxles so good job and keep sketching

Julia Doering replies: "Thanks for the critique. I agree with you on Entreri’s arms and hands, they are off. Concerning the face, let’s say I aimed at a more stylised look. Anime is for those who can do it properly, than it looks great. I can’t and I don’t want to either ."

Its simply GREAT!!!
However I got two reservations:

1. Neither Entreri, nor Jarlaxle weared any part of metal armor. At least I didn’t found any fragment that would mention it.

2. It looks a little weird, that you placed Charon’s Claw on right side, and dagger on left side (and YES, I know that I’m malcontent )

But screw that, that picture is the greatest Entreri & Jarlaxle picture ever!
