I think you succeeded at bringing the feel of Beardsley's work into yours... Btw,... The frame is wonderful! Julianne Dodds replies: "I got the idea for the frame from a King Arthur book illustrated by Beardsley I have... Really a great artist that one was!" | |
| 6 Feb 2004 | Liliane Grenier | Loading...Yes! Oh! Incredible! The black and white makes this picture particularly eye-catching. I think I know the artist your talking about, I'm pretty sure I've seen some illustrations of Morgan le fey, Guenivere, etc done just like that. You did the style so well, the borders are beautiful, with the flowers and curves. It must have taken hours to do those tree-leaves! And of course, the girl seems to tell a story all by herself, just by standing there. Julianne Dodds replies: "It did take a long time, but I watched Bringing Up Baby and Philadelphia Story while I did it. In retrospect, it wasn't such a good idea to do everything on this picture in one long sitting. Let me tell you, my hand HURT after I was finished!" | |
| 26 Feb 2004 | Laura Lee Paxson | Loading...Wow ... this piece looks like an old wood-block print and has style. I can't imagine changing it in any way. I like it. Julianne Dodds replies: "Now that's a nice thing to say. Thanks." | |
| 21 Jul 2004 | Antje Schaalmeier | Loading...Oh, I have lots of respect for you for I did such a Beardsley border once and I can remember who my hands hurt... Very beautiful, Aubrey would have been amused. Julianne Dodds replies: "Well that's the only reason I do anything. Thanks Antje." | |
