Arien was alway distant, but what you now see is only a ghost of what she once was. She always was in the forest during the days, but the three nights she spent there changed her life.

Arien passed through a ring of flowers and mushrooms as she walked through the forest. Soon after, she met a party of strangers who invited her to join in their dance. At first she was hesitant, but after hearing their music and the festivities she changed her mind.
The music was intoxicating and the food was so sweet, nothing she knew could compare. It was like a memory from a dream, impossible to remember and always slipping away...
She woke on the ground with her clothing in tatters, her hair having grown past her waist and her weapons gone to rust...

Those three nights were several years in which her twin married, her father died and all she knew had changed. Those strangers were the faeries of the woods. She would suffer from the langothe until she died...always searching for a way to go back until she whithered away. She would never be part of the human world or of the fae...

[edit]I have repainted this. I am aware that people preferred the soft haunting quality of the old version, where the girl looked quite beautiful and lost, but that is not what I had in mind when I fist did this painting. The goal was to have a look of being whithered, to have suffered. I feel that with this person I have come closer to my personal vision for the piece.

Wow... very nice. The background is awesome; so gloomy and mist-shrouded. It goes perfect with your story.
Arien reminds me of my aunt; the wide mouth and red hair. I like her freckles, you did her skin very well. Keep up the good work!

Love the haunting quality of this. The distorted proportions really make this piece come to live.

:-) Cristina Diaz-Borda replies: "I hope they aren't too distorted. I used myself as a reference.., :-p"

The girl looks weary , worn out
and quite traumatised
her eyes look bruised
theres still a striking beauty in her face though
love the misty haunted looking woods
great depiction
great painting/drawing

:-) Cristina Diaz-Borda replies: "Thank you! I'm very happy to see that my vision actually came across in this piece. I wanted you to be able to see that she was once beautiful. I'm glad you like it"
