"Night´s Judgment" by Jennifer A. Vega

SciFi/Fantasy text 5 out of 8 by Jennifer A. Vega.      ←Previous - Next→

This poem should really be read after my other poem Night. Night is sort of my Guardian, if you don't already know. In this poem I defend what he is... I defend him from being wrongly judged for what he is... even though, sometimes, I'm not even sure what he is...

~ Night Judgement ~

You speak to me of love of your God

And of how he died!

But who of he who has suffered.

are those who bear no heart!

Looking upon him with barely a smile of warmth

Or a word of compassion.

He is not all he seems.

Darkness is his heart because the light hurts him.

He has already been hurt too much.

I am there.

Me he loves.

He is as strong as a gale,

As gentle as a zephyr.

Holding him is like holding the night.

Smelling of the forest,

And crackling wood,

And a hint of brimstone.

Eyes as bright as stars

And as deep as blood.

He has been hurt,

So deep,

So deep.

He sees all humans his toys to wrought vengeance.

His arms wrap around me,

My warmth bleeding into his cold.

I feel safe as his ebony blackness encloses me,

So much sturdier than light.

I hold him close,

As another would a child,

And I feel no fear as his lips graze my cheek,

Lead to my neck,

Cold nips upon my skin.

I hold him close

And hold him sweet

As his teeth coax my skin open

And his hurt and pain flow into me

As he laps my warmth up with his tongue,

The only warmth he can find.

His fiery home is cold compared to me.

He kisses away the pain in my neck,

Soothing the tattered flesh which he had wrought.

I hold him tight,

Clenching my arms around him,

Feeling weak,

But filled with his love

And feeling his pain,

Only I can understand.

I touch his face

And feel his tears,

Share in his pain.

Hold him close as he cries

As he reaches down inside himself,

Replacing the cold with my warmth.

So there am I,

Him holding me close

As I am wrapped in him.

I smell his muskiness

And feel the dark power of Night.

He shudders at my touch

As I hold him close,

So hurt over the centuries,

So misunderstood.

And all I can say is

Where is your God's love?

Simply look into his eyes

And you'll see that you are wrong.

You are blind.

There is no love in your God,

Only something darker.

Darker than my Night.

Very powerful... and interesting. And good. *Blinks and tries to think of something coherent to say but can't* I - understand. I think.
