This is an RPG character of my IRC friend. He is a necromancer. He wears an amulet that makes him evil. Well, I don't actually know very much about him so I better shut up... Made with pencils (oh really?) on watercolor paper. Not a very good combination. Cannot make very smooth shadings. I got this done fairly quickly... quickly for me that is...

how comes there are no comments here?!?! *shrugs*...
Anyway, to the contrary, I think the shading is very interesting here! Gives it a perfect blend of smooth/rusty look...dreamy!
*heads out making a macabre dance in the clouds*

:-) Janne Vuollet replies: "Because this is the first day this pic is up. We'll see if it gets any more comments... Rusty look you say... Guess this is kinda rusty looking. Though I'd prefer smoother shading 9"

How come I have not commented this great picture before? I've gotta tell ya, that possibly for the first time you've drawn a character that looks good to me. His hand looks great (the one holding the skull, of course). Realistic and malformed, in a good way. Also his hair looks extremely good (okay, maybe I'm exaggerating), really filthy and messy, but he doesn't really look as evil as you intended. I find his outfit very real-looking. This actually could be an illustration from a book of some sort. Though the skull does look kinda ridiculous, but it doesn't bother me. What more? Oh yes, the clouds are nicely formed, maybe a tad too dark, but I guess that's appropriate since the skull seems to be a lamp, am I correct? And the moon looks too cartoony to suit the rest of the picture well. Like from a twisted Tim Burton picture (are there any non-twisted?).

:-) Janne Vuollet replies: "Actually, you have missed the point once again streamlanternbongostalkerfellow, he is a necromancer, you do know what a necromancer is yes? Anyways, he is holding the head of a dead person (yes, quite dead), and is about to bring it back to "life". You see the bones coming up from the ground to make the skeleton. Well, when it comes trying to draw realistically and naturally, this pic has still a bunch of flaws in the anatomy. And the face is quite funny looking. The thing I like most in this is the clothing. And the clouds or smoke whatever doesn't look very realistic to me. I'm just wondering why the epilogue people accepted this pic..."

Oh, dear God. I totally missed the bones, as well as the point. I knew he was a necromancer, I knew what a necromancer is, but what I didn't know, was that he was doing his Thing. He was going for it. Now I can see with my mind's eye, an old movie, where this scene could be placed and a terrible stop-motion animation sequence where the bones come to unite with the skull. Sorta like in Hellraiser.
Well, your correction doesn't change the grade. A very nice picture it is.. must.
