Color pencils, one of my favorite mediums, except I can never blend very smooth. Any advices? Nyway, this, I did in an hour or so. I am still trying to make my flying creatures more exotic and beautiful. Not much luck here. Well, the scenario: A nobleman's daughter seeks enchantment in her life and encounters flying creatures that's a mix of lizards, birds, and bats. Not sure of what they are, she befriends them anyway.

Nice complementary color pair in the sand. For blending colored pencils, try the new prismacolor clear blender pencil. You should also probably experiment with different brands since some colored pencils blend better than others.

You are a much higher skilled artist artist then me, so all I can say is that this is beautiful, and welcome to the woods. You deserve to be here.

Reminds me of Menolly from Pern! 1 Well, VERY nice job on the hair, and the neck is pretty well drawn too. I read McCaffrey's Dragon of Pern books too. Perhaps unconciously, I dipicted Menolly.

Coloured pencil blending.. Prismacolor pencils are excellent for blending colours and I recommend them, though they are a bit expensive, and the colourless blender pencil doesn't really work for me. I suggest several layers of colour burnished with a white or light coloured pencil. As for this picture, I agree it would be better in a smaller size. I love the atmosphere, and you really captured a moving ocean perfectly in the chaotic colouring. Nice work.the ocean is one of my favorite parts of this pic too...as for the pencils, can you believe that I did use prismacolor on this?

This is so lovely. Coloured pencils -are- fun to use. If you want to blend, sometimes (Depends on what kind of paper you're using) you can just rub your finger over it. Sometimes you can use lotion or water to help blend. Oh, and it's McCaffrey. Ann McCaffrey wrote the Pern books. =) I'd know, she's one of my favourite authors! ^_^ Great drawings.

You don't need to blend them to make the pic look nice. I like the rough texture created at her feet and the waves, the'yd look wrong if blended too well. The dress design is really nice and the ambience of the picture is great.

hi. nice picture. the girl is lovely, and i really like how those flying creatures seem to glow. the colorwork is great. there's just one thing i think you should add, and that's a moon. not a very big one, but yet.. a moon. *s*

Outstanding! Maybe if you did the bodies of the dragons a little mor bendy they would look the way you want. Oh and I don't use colored pencils myself but my brother said a good way to smooth them is with a rubber, you know one of the cheep plasticy ones you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy?

Oh wow, this reminds me of "Dragon Song" and "Dragon Singer" by Ann McCaffrey (did i spell her name right?) Anyway, it looks like the main character, walking down the beach with her Fire-Lizards... *tee hee*
