This - and many other pieces in this gallery - is reminicent of Francis Bacon (the painter, not the philosopher), especially in the treatment of colour and texture, and with the fixation on a theme (here, crucified women).

Was this inspired by another painting? The title sounds familiar. This is the most developed of all of your work. This one has a depth that the others are missing. How long did it take?

Thank you for all the comments - especially the one about Francis Bacon. I've become more familiar with his work since I first read the comment, and he is quite inspirational. At some point, I might be able to acquire a better image of this painting. This is my first sold piece, and I'm friends with its owner.

birds, the piece may have taken anywhere from a few hours to a few days to complete - I don't remember - but the bulk of it was done within a few hours. It was my first and one of my best oil paintings.
It is based loosely on a conceptual painting with the same title by Judson Huss.
