SciFi and Fantasy Art Little Boy Moth by J. lawrence

This is Shakespeare's Moth, one of Titania's faeries. i read the play in (cough) 6th grade, and so got the impression that he was male. somewhere in the middle of creating this, i realized that any faerie wandering the woods with Titania would likely be female, but my english teacher has assured me that it's up to the reader; that Moth is in fact an 'it'. well... i used psp, done with a mouse(but i have a tablet now !!). the clothes are modeled after a picture from 'Zur Geschichte der Kostueme'. i used a reference both on the boy, and the moth wings -- a lime hawk moth. downsizing is terrible! he looks disgusting now. and also, this was my 'elfwood is down' project. it's been a long time defore i uploaded it, but this is to everyone who helped with that series of crashes.

28 Dec 2005	Elizabeth Ann Duffy	Loading... Very good work with the references you picked, and the wings are good in terms of scale. The only thing which could be improved is the shading. The light source seems a little muddled, and bolder use of dark tones would really bring the character to life. Other than that it's excellent. J. lawrence replies: "thanks for the compliments, and i agree; he seems very flat and hazy. i've learned a lot since coloring little moth, and i think if i ever do it again, my first concern would be to give the boy more contrast"
