I had a very short Sci-fi period. I found out quite quickly that painting space was extremely hard, and this lil’ planet is the only astronomical object I’ve been at least somewhat pleased with this far. But spaceships are fun. ^^ I’ve named her after Alexandria, library-spaceship invented by Norwegian author Jon Bing, painted to illustrate the books by marvellous Thore Hansen. I’ve made her look like a fish because I’m rather fond of fishes. The bottom one is draft one while the top one is draft two. The long thing with the bulb up front is called a “bioop”, even though it’s actually a radio transmitter.

A very interesting concept and design. I can imagine the "fins" being some kind of solar sail catching the solar wind and using it to power and propel the ships. Both are good, but I prefer the larger or closer on at the top.

:-) Karen-Birgitte "Ellemerr" Borud replies: "Yes, they were supposed to be solar sails. Wow, someone actually got that. Huh. Guess that’s proof I really can draw sci-fi art too! *does a little happy dance* Thanks alot! ^^"

I like Sci-Fi quite a lot, especially robot-like human. But I never get to paint one 10 These solarships look awsome! I want one1 The look-through wings are very nice as well2 Good job! I like the blue colour as well^^

:-) Karen-Birgitte "Ellemerr" Borud replies: "We should get ourselves a starship and go exploring something, sometime. Not that I´ve really got the body required for astronauting, but still. ;P I´m a big fan of transparant and do it as often as I can! Those wings were fun! ^^"

So... the fins... solar power. Makes sense. *nods* But honestly, what else would they be for? I mean, this *is* space, and there being no mattering (not the word I was looking for. What the hell is that word?) friction...

Now of course, the obligatory

FISHY!!!!

ensues. Or ensued, anyhow. Because fish-based craft are awesome. You’ve earned a... um, can of soup? ...for this one... *offers said can*

:-) Karen-Birgitte "Ellemerr" Borud replies: "Yoom, soupie! *gulps down* Fins and solar power, yes. I´d like to point out that this bit of sense is not mine, I´ve stolen it from my fav Norwegian sci-fi writer, the honoured Jon Bing. The bioop-thingy probably doesn´t make nearly as much sense, but that is mine. And fish-crafts, though perhaps not the most useful, rock, and we know it. Because they look like awesomeness. 12"

I like the little ’bioop’ (you made hat up) Like one of those angler fish that attract prey with a little twinkly light then.... *CHOMP*
