She perched on a rock,
Watched the ship
Passing by.

Prayed that she'd Finally
Capture the King's eye.

She sang her song for him,
But, he mistook it
For the wind . . .

Alas,
As she watched
Her true love
Sail on by . . .
All that she could do
Was sigh.

Dove into the Sea, and prayed
She'll have her chance,
Another Day.

I like this poem very much, it's so incredibly simple - it seems pure, yet foamy, like the sea. I love the twist on the end, "another day" - I feel very related to this mermaid! (sorry 'bout the broken up language, I'm kinda tired..=))
