Kari!!!! Wow, when I saw the beginnings of your work at school I knew you'd become one of the best fantasy artist of all time seeing the progress you have made in the years since graduation, I am speechless. Should you see this, please e-mail me!

Forgive me for gawking, but I simply had to see every single drawing you had to offer. To boot, I read your Bio, of which I agreed with so much, even if sometimes my particularity to detail doesnt allow me to be modest with what I say. LOL Anyway, as constructive criticism, your Avian wings need no further improvement. Stop trying to hone them. They are the pinnacle. I even loved the seemless way with which you integrated an exceptionally unique griffon's draconian wings with feathers on the tips! Very convincing, even as it would seem somewhat implausible. There are a select few wings, though, having origin in both Bird and Drake, that caught my scrutinizing eye as having minor anatomical faults, even as they were rendered with mastery. Some were different from their counterparts on the opposite sides of their owners bodies (asymmetrical), and on others, the upper arm anatomy was confusing and somewhat implausibly designed. A more common problem I seem to find with so many large flying creatures in general, tho, is that the artist designs them with upper arms that seem too scrawny for any purpose including remote movement, let alone dynamic, powered flight. Your use of color, even if it is fed by descriptions of the owners of the characters you are commissioned, is uncanny, however. Your dragons of bold, vibrant color seem to have evolved to stand out for a reason: Not To Be Messed With!!! Just as equally, your griffons, patterned well, Id imagine more often for the purpose of blending in, hiding in wait for a passing yak (the Snow Leopard Griffon struck a special nerve for me; a childhood favorite real-life animal)seem to meet the world with their eyes being the only thing you *might* see before they claim you as you would a chicken nugget. I often wondered, while browzing through your beasts, whether you risked your life getting a live field sketch of an animal that might have crossed a baseball diamond in three strides. Im not sure what else to say. So thats it.

You don't get much 'constructive criticism' because, quite frankly, there ain't much to criticise. Dragons and griffons and such are fantasy visions and can be interpreted many ways - and your ways are awesome, to be sure.
Try drawing a few wizards, elves, dwarves, angels, demons and the like - I'm sure you'll get more "constructive" comments from the anatomy police than you can stand.

I hope that you still check these i am not sure how to get in touch with you... i just wanted to share my experience with you. your Tribal Falcon picture really stood out to me. i had an out of body experience and long story short that being lead me into my body again. i had never seen that picture until today and i am absolutely astounded. also the symbol on the back of the Falcon is that the symbol for the Tribal Falcon, if not do you know what the symbol is and what it looks like?
