| 23 Jul 2003 | Huntress | haha, I've probably annoyed you with all my comments, but all the same, Welcome to Elfwood! I'm a Carolinian too, in fact I live up in North Raleigh. Where do you hail from? I must say, your art's great for a beginner, and if you find it fun and you wish to keep updating pieces that would be publized more, you'd probably enjoy the following books. Drawing Anatomy < < These two are a series Drawing Fantasy < and of course Anatomy lessons from the great masters. These can be found in Micheals stores, around Carolina, and are usually on the isle with the quilting/whatever crafting books. I know over just a two week period, they improved my drawing drastically. Well, good luck! Katelyn Shea Keith replies: "I live near Asheboro... Thankyou for all of your helpful tips i will be sure to see about those books i hope to hear from you again, whenever i finish uploading some new pics thankyou again *~Kate~*" | |

| 7 Sep 2003 | Dennis Drury | I think your two treants are the best, and I rather like the "scary" one. You give both of those creatures a lot of character. As for your facial studies, you tend to make them look a lot alike, especially the profiles. You need to learn to put some faces at oblique angles to the viewer -- all of your faces either are turned directly at the viewer or are turned 90 degrees. In real life faces can be seen at all angles. How do you learn to draw this? Someone above recommended books, and, yes, books help, but I think the best thing is to get a photo and copy it, even trace it at first, and get to see how the eyes, nose, mouth, etc., look when they are neither straight-on nor completely in profile. I have no doubt you'll be able to learn this, because you are already learning well how to do the straight-on and profile faces. Keep on drawing, and thanx for the comment on my gallery! Katelyn Shea Keith replies: "yes i would Love to learn to draw faces from all angles..lol im trying to practice it..lol may take alot of practice before i get the hang of it thankyou for your suggestions and comment come back again, always great to hear from you!**love your site!***-kate-*" | |
