	This peice explores the idea of self-worth. The gargoyle and vines represent the things you may be told about yourself that aren't true, or keep you from fully forming your own ideas of yourself and your self worth. The character is breaking away from what she always believed herself to be, and is ready to leap off this confining tower.

Great job on the female figure , and great model * who did you say it was * ( just kidding ) You did a very nice job withithe piece . Her ( or should I say your ) hands seem to blur up a bit much , but I like the blur in the background . It leeds the eye to the center of the piece .

3 Feb 2000	The artist	Loading... Thanks everyone! (you're all too kind!) I, too, wish the scan was better, the fine details really do get lost. It's hard to see that she's actually breaking out of the back of the gargoyle, (you can't really see the cracks or the peices that have fallen off), but at least the emotion comes across!

Or not, I don't suppose it matters too much... it's still a great pic. The figure is very well proportioned... congrats.
11 Sep 2003	Tamara C. Johnson	Loading... excellent concept! If you wanted to enhance the "break out" feeling you might add chunks of rock "exploding" off the gargoyle, around the girl. This also would help clarify that she is emerging, not that her body is lost in the tangle of greens. -syr

I'll be asking about a larger (sharper, perhaps?) version and about sharing this with my Pteraphiles Yahoo! Group (see my homepage link on my Wyvern's page) in e-mail. For now, I'll just enjoy its vigorous life. And, yes, I see her leaping skyward out of joy, with bended knees that are hidden in the back.
