SciFi and Fantasy Art Emerald, Malachite, & Jade by Kathleen Hardy

A very detailed piece, the main focus is the intricate stone archway. I was reallly working with glazing in this oil piece, and the stone and floor took the longest amount of time. (I actually redid the floor several times, with 2 or 3 different color glazes, but it was worth it!)

I'm still working on more dramatic lighting for my figures, I'm gettting better, but a lot of artists I have talked to have a similar problem-- just getting the darks dark enough on a human figure. With my new technique of drawing the very detailed pencil drawing underneath, it's getting better. I just need to push it more.

28 May 2008	Green Phoenix	Loading... A nice collection of green precious stones you have here, although I would say Malachite would be a bit less dark, or at least have parts whch are lighter green. Also the spacing between the figures can be a bit better defined, especially the farthest Emerald. Otherwise great job on all the detail and the choice of colours. ~#F
