Tag As FavoriteComment		A rare glimpse of the selkie, a shy water fay from the Scottish islands. My second attempt at watercolors (the first being 'The Fox and the Grapes') in a similar style to 'Rapture', with its circular style, checkerboard graphic elements, and Celtic knotwork. I'm really happy with the way it turned out, and was surprised at how fast it went. A couple of hours to draw and ink the basic design, and a few hours a day for only 3-4 days to paint it.

*First comment dance* Stunning waterclor! I love selkies, and the circular celtic knot border, and chckerboard backround are imaginativley inventive, not to mention the seals are impressively well done!

absolutly love the checkerboard pattern! it really makes this picture special. In my mind, it somewhat clashes with the knotwork, but that's a personal opinion. Very original and fun piece!

I love how the circular pattern draws your attention inward towards the woman. I love the story of the selkies.
