This is one of what I call minotaur poetry. This just means that all deal with the minotaur -- as a symbol, as a people, and as my own personal reflection.

A lullaby from my own 'universe' of minotaur people. From the Arluun clan, great singers.

Minotaur Lullaby: Clan - Arluun

Spirit ways and spirits wend,
guard your dreaming, ah-meh-oh.
Sunlit streams and starlight gleaming,
guide your eyes, ah-meh-oh.

Warrior's soul and poet's tongue,
brightly dancing, ah-meh-oh.
Steady on and softly singing,
joy in life, ah-meh-oh.

Grow up straight and tall and true,
bravest of hearts, ah-meh-oh.
In your gaze the future starts,
clasp my hand, ah-meh-oh.

Stars are blinking and night has come,
so nestle deep, ah-meh-oh.
And newborn with possibilities,
day will wake, ah-meh-oh.

Fear no darkness, youngling mine,
safe in my arms, ah-meh-oh.
Love surrounds you, safe from harm.
I am here, ah-meh-oh.

Simply lovely--the illustration and the poem. I could almost hear it--it makes a perfect lullaby.

:-) Anna Katheryn Smith replies: "~ Thanks. *smiles* Eventually, there may be a sound file to go with this. Miguel Ettema, who is writing a sequel for Rarest, is also gifting me with his efforts to compose this lullaby to music."

wow...i followed a link from Joelle Duran's page to Miguel's page, and listened to the melody to this lullaby...and i have to say, the both of your are so very talented...this is an excellent poem, and its an excellent song...i'm so overwhelmed!!
great job, i think this should have deserved a mod's choice...

2 Anna Katheryn Smith replies: "You're too kind. I don't think it's quite mod's choice material, but I'm pleased you like it. 12 I think the music adds a lot though, so much credit goes to Miguel when it comes to bringing the lullaby to life with a voice and a tune. "

I *think* I have come up with a decent melody for this lullaby...

:-) Anna Katheryn Smith replies: "Think, nothing. It's a very nice melody. *grins*"

ohh and I liked the drawing at the bottom of the poem too helps create a nice visual when reading this poem =)

:-) Anna Katheryn Smith replies: "Yes, Miguel seems to be my best advertising these days. *chuckles* Between the illustration and the musical accompaniment in the works, this is probably the most supported any of my work has been. It's kind of nice, even as it's a bit strange, to have more than the words building an image in the reader's mind."

WOW! So beautiful and soothing, exactly as a lullabye should be. Sadly I couldn't see the picture though (darn red Xs).

It sounds so much better with rain in the background and a sweet wind like voice whispering it into a childs ear as they sleep. ahhh-mehh-ohhhh.....

Two "big" things: the word "bravest" adds too many syllables to the line, so just make it "brave" -- and "possibilities" completely ruins that line; too many syllables.

Other than that, I liked it. It had a nice, chantlike flow that you would expect from a gentle minotaur (if you can imagine that in the first place!).

your a loser

14 Anna Katheryn Smith replies: "And you’re an idiot, unable to tell the difference between "you’re" and "your", nevermind basic punctuation and capitalization. Better start sharpening those life-skills you’ll be needing. Practice this phrase: "Would you like fries with that?""
