SciFi and Fantasy Art True Form: Aziraphale by Katerina A. Romanova

Aziraphale from Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.

In theory. This arose from a discussion on what an angel's true form would look like, if you based it on the (frankly: trippy) depictions of angels from Bible canon. I don't really see the appeal or logic in upside-down dog heads or wheels of fire or the like, but an energy-based, spirit-like creature made of wings and fire and vaguely reminiscent of an owl, for an angel who hoards books and has parallels with Prometheus? Why not?

14 Nov 2012	Green Phoenix	Loading... I think you’ve made a pretty good shot at incorporeal being visualisation. The Bible stuff’s mostly symbolic and much of its meaning might be lost on people unless they lived at the time or one of the experts. Even the wings part is symbolism - pointing to the swiftness of movement in their role as messengers. Generally I rather like C.S. Lewis’s take on angels in his space trilogy, although (even as beings of light and energy) he perhaps presents them a little too corporeal, rather them making them exist on a totally different plane of being to the one people can normally experience.
