SciFi and Fantasy Art Leaving the Shire by Katherine Tuck

Again inspired by the mood Tolkien sets rather than trying to depict the actual landscpe he describes - when Sam turns to Frodo and states "this is it Master Frodo, one more step and I'll be the furthest I've ever been from the shire" is pivotal. The stepping into the unknown vast spaces of the world. This is 1.25m by 0.75m on canvas, primed with Gesso and painted in Oils. Thin washes with Turps 1st and then thicker layers with Liquin Impasto applied with a palette knife.
