This is another Tolkien inspired Oil Painting, I don't imagine that Fangorn Forest would really look like this at all! But the sense of foreboding that Tolkien creates when describing it is what gave me the inspiration to paint such a forest. Dark and looming, indistinct and omonous. This is a 1.25m by 0.75m Oil Painting on Canvas, thin washes created with lots of turpentine and then heavy palette knife work using lots of liquin impasto.

I like this one more than the other one, but I love them both. Looks for all the world like the landscapes round here on gloomy days.

Nice one. I agree that it doesnt look like what Fangorn should be, but certain has a broding atmosphere.

62 Katherine Tuck replies: "I think my idea for it was supposed to be something foreboding on the horizon or as you get near to it, not the heavy darkness of the forest itself but a metaphore for things that scare us even if they are miles away..."
