I think I agree with Cynfa in that you need more details in the overall picture. It's a good picture that could be even better with some more detail. Keep up the good work. Kerry S. Boyd replies: "I'll do what I can; thanks. ^..^"
| 31 Oct 2003 | Tara 'SilverMoonFox' Taylor | Loading...Martina, I think she is going for a 'real' unicorn in this pic, and not a horse with a horn. Unicorns were originally said to have features of deer and goats which included large ears and a smaller head. So when compared to a unicorn, and not a horse the proportions are great! Kerry S. Boyd replies: "You're so observant ^..^ You get a cookie! Yes, I was going for an actual unicorn. The horsey ones, while some are stunningly rendered, look too much like regular horses for my taste. The deer/goaty ones are far more appealing to me. " | |

The bone structure and ear shape are definitely horsey, but the proportions are deerlike. It's easy to see why Martina got confused. Having said that, I think he's adorable. If you want to give us a better idea of his size, next time you draw him, give us something that we know the approximate size of next to him. Kerry S. Boyd replies: "Okay. If he wants me to draw him again, I'll take all that into consideration ^..^ "
| 26 Jan 2005 | Amy F. Goggin | Loading...Aw, he has a droopy horn. His body reminds me of a donkey more so than anything else. Yay for donkey-corns! He has nice eyes and you shade beautifully. Kerry S. Boyd replies: "Thanks. ^..^ Yes, he does, but I thought it'd be nice to deviate from the normal straight, spiraling horn. And it looks good on him. ^..^ " | |
| 26 Jan 2005 | Ashley Sharier | Loading...Well, some one else has allready pointed out the body issues, so I'll just say I like the grass. Maybe because it's freezing and snowing right now, but this is very nice stare-at-it-and-wish-it-was-spring grass. I like the tail too Kerry S. Boyd replies: "I'm working on it, I promise... I'm almost done fixing it. ^..^ " | |
| 27 Jan 2005 | Jennifer Alice Peters | Loading...Aww he's so cute. Something about this picture just makes me smile. Kerry S. Boyd replies: "Thanks a lot. ^..^ " | |
| 27 Jan 2005 | Quiet and shy | Loading...I quite like the curved horn and blue fur/hair. It gives him charactor. He doesn't look impatient to me, though, more like he just heard something and is curious! Kerry S. Boyd replies: "He's more happily awaiting his friends than impatient... but he's waiting all the same. -..^" | |
| 27 Jan 2005 | Katy | Loading...I think the blue mane, tail, and hoof coverings are beautiful! The horn is a bit curved/droopy though... Kerry S. Boyd replies: "Thank you, and the horn is supposed to be that way. ^..^" | |
| 27 Jan 2005 | Molly A. Marx | Loading...I love him!!! The blue tail is awesome and he has such a sweet expression, the soft colors are lovely Kerry S. Boyd replies: "^..^ Thanks! " | |
| 1 Feb 2005 | Wolf Girl | Loading...You colour rather well, but I must say his anatomy is a bit off.. With the head, I think the problem is that, though his head might supposed to be smaller, his neck is still just as long.. Causing him to look sort of like those long necked dinosaurs, to me.. And also the shape of his face.. His nose seems a bit wide or something.. Even if his face isn't supposed to be as long as a horses, Unicorns noses aren't all that big, as far as I know.. His eye looks too round and to be too close to his horn.. or perhaps his horn is too wide near the base.. And his stomach.. is too rounded.. His legs don't seem long and slender enough, but that could just be my opinion.. If you want him to look short and stubby-like, that's up to you. Kerry S. Boyd replies: "Well, it was a rather difficult angle, so I suppose a few anatomical errors are inherent. However, his head and legs are exactly the way they should be, even if his neck is long and his body is a tad tubby. The horn is not a cylinder as 'normal' unicorns have: at the base, the end closer to the ears is rounded, but it tapers to a point near the eyes. In effect, he has an almost bladelike horn. If I draw him again, I will take everyone's anatomical suggestions into consideration. " | |
