Boyd replies: "I believe it's a reptilian equivalent of a jumping mouse. It lives in edge forest and grassy areas where it can have cover from predators and find plenty of grains and nuts to eat. The males (such as this one) have red bellies that they display in mating season while standing on their tails. Rival males try to stand up taller; if they can rear to the same height, they kick with their hindlegs till one falls down. The winner gets to claim that patch of territory into which females wander to assess and eventually choose their mates. "

Magnificent work. The detail is exquisite and it has a wonderful background. One of your better backgrounds in fact. Great job. Kerry S. Boyd replies: "I love that kind of image as well, though this is the first time I've ever tried doing it myself. It was a fun piece to do. Amazing what a couple of idle hours temping at a secretary's desk can produce. -..^"

Boyd replies: "LOL It's not going to eat you... he's small and friendly, and very happy at the moment. He'd likely appreciate a hug, though he's about the size of a rabbit, so maybe holding him would be better. -..^"
