This picture was produced to be shown, or given to players, to give them the necessary clues required to help solve the adventure. I spent quite a long time on this one and, in my opinion, failed to capture the look I was after. There are of course several things wrong with the picture, the major one being the top half of his clothing (awful!). I originally wanted to capture the feel of the old full-length portrait paintings created by the masters of the renaissance, etc., but didn’t even get part of the way there. However, I did manage to amuse myself by adding in little things such as a copy of “Hamlet” resting against a skull and a black cat on the table in honour of the classic tale of “The portrait of Dorian Gray”. 0.5mm mech pencil…again! (Warpstone Issue 5)

Makes me think of a trump from Roger Zelazny's Amber series. Nice work.

This is great!! I don't see why you don't like it, but everyone hates their own style, I guess. Wonderful shading and proportion.

What does a black cat have to do with The Picture of Dorian Gray? Great pic though 2

First things first... great pic. Shading is superb and detail devine. I wish i had the patients to do such a dark work. This kind of pic makes me want to go buy a lot of useless art supplies so i can go home and use my old .5 mech.

Good grief...I should BE so detailed in my work! That is scrumptious, particularly with a mechanical pencil. I have trouble working with mechanical pencils myself and favor solid graphite pencils so I can vary line width, but after seeing what you're capable of with a more controlled line, I'm going to try it myself. Really stunning work on the background, especially--lush, illustrative, and yes, evocative of Flemish oil paintings. Loooove it. 2

I agree with you about the upper body and the legs don't look physically right, they bend slightly the wrong way and he looks as though he is about to fall over. I do really like your attention to detail and dark shading creates a great atmosphere, ambiguity and mystery to the piece and your added humour - such as Hamlet is very refreshing in the sense that it doesnt detract from the piece's sombre, dark and moody tone. Your work is very inspirational and a pleasure to see, analyse and learn from. I like pencil drawing and having just finished my GCSE and about to start 'A' level art, your work has been a huge influence.
