I know, I know its fantasy and open for interpretation, but I think there should be factors to make Elves and humans different. Sean Keefe replies: "Well, he has a lighter, lithe build (granted the armor obscures that), pointed features, over-sized eyes, and an inability to grow body hair. And, though you can't see it from this reduced sized scan, he has eliptical pupils, like a cat. But, yeah, I still wanted him to remain generally human-like, as I did with my other races. It's easier to imagine cross-species coupling if the races are similar (which is a factor in a world with Half Elves)."
| 13 Mar 2003 | Anonymous | Loading..."He would be more civilized and cultured, which means short hair" I disagree with this statement. In ancient times, meaning most fantasy settings, long hair was a sign of high-birth and nobility. It's also an elf-thing to prefer long hair. And all Elves are naturally adept with both sword and bow. That's just how fantasy is. Otherwise it's a decent picture. But my personal opinion is that Elves look ridiculous with short hair. Sean Keefe replies: "Hmmm...Take a history course sometime. You'll learn about this interesting footnote called the Roman Empire. I think they made a movie about it a few years back. I thought this civilization would be a perfect model for my High Elves. Balorin's armor is even based on Roman armor. And you are entitled to your opinion, but I think its hard enough to tell male and female Elves apart without giving them identical hair lengths." | |

If you do not want it there, please email me at jammin_edward@yahoo.de Sean Keefe replies: "I'm honored! Feel free to use the other picture of Balorin in this gallery if you'd like (I think its a better picture)..."

Elves have every right to have short hair and fight with swords ( I thought elves fought with swords as well as bows in a ny case, I mean bows aren't the best weapon in the world for close up fighting!) Anyways, Nice elf. Sean Keefe replies: "Heh, you tell'em! I mean, its not like there is a genetic marker for hair-length. Gonna say this one last time: weapon choice and hair length are CULTURAL not GENETIC traits. There are at least 3 different cultures of elves in every setting. Why should they all be EXACTLY ALIKE? Kinda defeats the purpose of having multiple cultures if the cultures are the same, right?Oh, and thanks!"

| 21 Jun 2003 | Drist | Loading...I've played dnd for 8 years and saying all elves have long hair is like saying all 1/2 orcs are dumb.(check out DND hero's builder for 1/2 orc wizards) As humans are different other races are, though it is an exception not a rule. It's dull to play the same racial traits, change makes the game fun. I played short haired elves and had lots of fun with them. The ears stand out as elf though the chin could have dragged south a little more, to assure he's not mistaken for 1/2 elf but the rest is great. | |

| 10 Mar 2004 | Justus | Loading...everyone comments on this one. the hair CAN be short...i think the problem people are having is that it's bad. the legs and arms ARE small and sinewy, however, they are much too small and out of place. i very much appreciate your ideas about his eyes, armor and person. It's a good pose...so it'd be worth if it looked reallish. The sword looks like it really wants to be good, the shield is though. Keep trying on legs that are good, not breakable. But the picture has good depth. Sean Keefe replies: "Well, yeah, if you want to look at details and such. " | |
| 10 Aug 2004 | J. Diocletian, anyone? Nero? Art was his hobby- and extortion his way of life. No, romanesque elves just aren't right. It's the subject matter I've got a problem with, though, not the actual art. | |
