"... the largest white wolf Lobram had ever seen crept into view, growling and baring its teeth at the man trying to catch his breath. The man screamed and held his hands in front of his face. "Get him away!"

"Down boy," the man on horseback said soothingly, and the wolf backed off to stand by the man's horse. The man on horseback wore a cloak with a hood that covered his face. Lobram tried to see what he looked like but dark shadows hid the man's features."
