A very good friend of mine, Lord Crusan, asked my help to write a description for one of his images. I offered to write a poem instead.
A small version of the image can be found beneath the poem (posted with his permission). It's so small you can't even see what's in it. The original can be found here. Please take some time viewing the rest of his gallery.

Another thing coming

Can you see it?
Tiny points of light,
golden flames
coming closer.

Can you hear it?
The footsteps of trolls,
shaking the ground
like distant thunder.

Can you feel it?
Their hatred,
their hunger
for our blood.

Sometimes we go there
to see how they live.
Only few of us
ever return.

Don't let them catch you.
They'll flame you
and burn you,
make you scream.

Your wings crisp
your flesh still raw.
Oh how dreadful
they savour the taste.

And now they come
to our part of the woods
bringing fire
and destruction.

They come closer
torches held high
cleavers in hand
searching for us.

But here
we don't fear them.
Here we are safe,
here we rule.

Tiny we are
the fae of the forest,
but strong is our magic
in our own realm.

Let them come
as we gather.
Faeries and sprites
together we stand.

Let them come closer.
They think us weak,
stupid fools
that they are.

They've got another thing coming.

For some unknown reason I can't see the picture, but the poem is so vivid it makes me want to illustrate it 2
Great job!

:-) Imelda Weijers replies: "Thank you Cristina. There seems to be a bug when you post illustrations with stories or poems. I've already contacted support about it. There's a link in the description to the original image if you want to view it."

Nitty gritty stuff first, because I'm annoying like that. ^-~

I'm fairly sure Elfwood is pretty lax on enforcing its colour rules (black's the only colour allowed), but white is unreadable. As it stands, the only way to read this is by highlighting the text. I don't mind doing that, but it's still a shame, since it'll put people off from reading. 8

Oh how dreadful/they savour the taste. /theme/whatyouwanttocallit so well and enforces the idea of the last line. It's a great touch. ^-^

As mentioned by the previous commentor, it's a very vivid piece. That's always a bonus. ^-^ I really like the imagery in this, even though it can be quite a gruesome if you think about it. Nice and powerful that way. ^-^ You carry free verse well, and it's a terrific illustration. I really like how the poem doesn't tell you what's going on immediately. Narrative verse can be a pain to write, but I like this.

Well done!

:-) Imelda Weijers replies: "I don't know why the text was white, it wasn't intentional. There was a piece of html code that shouldn't have been there, I hope taking that out solves it. I don't mind people pointing out mistakes, in fact, I welcome it. So thanks for that."
