I had a strange dream about a sad dragon. When I woke up I wondered if dragons could weep and if so how nature would react.
The image was kindly donated by Steph (Silverflagon) Salt. This lovely lady has an art gallery here at Elfwood. Please take some time to visit (click here).

In case your wondering why some of the commentors congratulate me with Mod's Choice for this one without there being a Mod's Choice icon, let me explain what happened. I first uploaded the poem without the image. It didn't get Mod's Choice. After Steph Salt donated the image and I uploaded it, the Mod reviewing the changes gave it MC, but that is against their own rules so it was removed some time later.

When Dragons Weep

When Dragons weep, bright Sun will hide,
behind a thick grey cloud.
For Sun will not show in his light,
the sorrow of these creatures proud.

When Dragons weep, pale Moon will wane,
as black as she's ever been.
In darkest night can Dragons hide,
to all prying eyes unseen.

When Dragons weep, strong Wind will die,
to no more than a breeze.
With her soft caress, she'll ease their pain,
until all dragon-tears cease.

Remember this on a moonless night,
after a calm and cloudy day.
A weeping Dragon may be near,
so send comforting thoughts his way.

Ooooo... what a cute little poem! Its so sweet, and you wrote it with such poetic loveliness (you get the idea ^.^) But wow... great job... you've got talent! I wish I could write like you! You know... i need to write a dragon poem... yours is absolutely perfect, I wouldn't change a thing!

:-) Imelda Weijers replies: "You wish you could write like me? How can you say something like that? I've read some of your poems, they're absolutely great!"

I like this poem lots! Most people can't imagine a dragon crying.

:-) Imelda Weijers replies: "I think dragons have the same emotions as humans but they don't show them that much. Not because they are afraid to do so, but because their link to nature is so strong that nature reflects those emotions. So they keep their feelings hidden lest they upset the balance of nature..."

Lovely poem, lovely images . . . Very sad
but 'breeze' and 'cease' don't really rhyme

:-) Imelda Weijers replies: "I know, but it's close enough for me."

This is a great poem. It makes me think proudly of my dragon kin.
