A great machine running on the pain of a little child. It moves, thinks, endures and heals, all thanks to the girl. The girl, who spent all her life alone on a stone chair under a stinging machine. Though it feels wrong, she finds it normal. What else could she feel, when her first, only and last memory is the machine? It is her duty to keep the machine running, even if it costs her life. Her mental life, she never knew she could have had.

Hmph.

Now *that* tugs at the soul, if anything ever could. I understand why someone would think it "horrifying and immoral" as Emily above stated -- that's what gives this picture it's power. I think there's something in each of us that connects with the girl in the machine sometimes -- we feel so myopic and unsure of how to escape pain or trial. I wonder what would happen if the girl were freed.

:-) Terhi Lehkonen replies: "Yep, I had to get something out of my system and those moments sometimes lead to works like this. Better to embrace the bad feeling and fly with it than to think it doesn't exist and dam it inside.
As for the girl, I'd go for overwhelming confusion and fear in her if she saw the world outside. But we all have a tendency to adjust, especially to good things. 2"

I guess it's pretty sad that this picture reminds me of my childhood, right? '-_- Awesome picture! Certainly gets strong reactions out of people, and I think it's drawn in a great style. Keep on drawing!
