have you ever read a book called Wide Sargasso Sea? Well, there is alot of marionette symbolism in it, mainly for the female character Antoinette - it’s a haunting book, and this just reminded me of it - really creepy, and very sad...i have always thought that the marionette is the strongest symbol for desolation; you are trapped by the strings that control you, but if you sever the strings then you are lost forever - a tough situation, really. you either live and let yourself be controlled, or seek to control your own life, and become destroyed as a consequence.

:-) Katelyn Shibley replies: "No I haven’t read it, but it sounds really interesting!"
