First in a hopeful series of colour pictures of the cast of Shadows, the comic I've been working on for < a href='http://www.livejournal.com/~nanomango/'> NaNoMangO. Basanti, the main character in said comic, is one of the better (if not the best) flamedancers on her little tropical island. I'd like to mention that this is her ceremonial gear, and thus isn't designed to take a sword in the gut (before you start whining about the lack of coverage XD;;). Flamedancers and their weapons don't usually ever touch the enemy, and vice verse, so... yeah. I'm still hesitant about the quasi-background, but at least it's better than nothing at all ^^;

Completed June 17, 2004, using Copic Markers.

I like your coloring, and the movement of the hair, except the hair on her face...It doesnt seem to havea natural move like the rest of it.

Also I noticed you have one hand with three fingers, Its that suposef to be like that? 16

the estructure of the picture is quite good, as it call the eye inmediately.

But I still dont undertand why people think that kinf of swords could really be used...but whatever.

:-) Alicia 'Xellandria' Kilpatrick replies: "=O Can it be... actual constructive criticism on Elfwood? @o I thought it was a dying art~ Thank you for proving me wrong =DI was never particularly happy with the hair, by the face or otherwise. The shading didn't come out particularly well, and I wasn't sure exactly what I was doing with it ^^;As for the swords, they're not made to ever touch their opponent... it's like the ceremonial/decorative/fake swords that are used in acrobatics and sword-swallowing and the like. They're sharp, but fragile as hell =D"

Ooh, very cool. The outfit is pretty nifty, and the swords are gorgeous! She does seem a bit stiff, but otherwise, the pic is totally amazing. Congrats on Mod's Choice!

Wow~ I want swords like those! XD The coloring on this is just beautiful. And, I read on your bio page you were at Kumoricon? I guess I should have wandered around Artist's Alley a bit more! I adore your art, and would have loved to see some more of it there!

HEY!!!! it looks like one of my drawings ! COOL! although, i cant paint for beans OR spell for them...( ) Thats supposed to be a smiley ( face... Verry red too... cool awesome detail and the legs do kinda look shapeless.... BUT ITS STILL SO AWESOME!!!!!

Actually, I rather think the arched window adds a nice aspect of containment to it. Perhaps having the entirety appear as stained glass would have been a bit stronger, and perhaps a Gothic arch would have framed the character better. Then again, that's my odd fascination with medieval arches and vaulting doing the talking.

The figure looks to be contorted in a rather uncomfortable position, but that looks intentional: It looks like a fantisized version of an illuminated manuscript. Keep it up!

This is a very excellent picture and I absolutely love it. Its only shortfall is in the stiffness of the legs that looks a bit awkward.

Great work though.

Just an cliche manga elfie with a couple of fancy-looking weapons and a overly colorful set of clothes. Nothing that inmaginative.
