"Coloring Tips 2" by Kimberly Delain

I apologize sincerely to the moderators to have to judge whether this picture is appropriate or not.  Pretty much my only excuse is that the person I'm drawing is a princess who later becomes a water sprite in order to save her country from impending war.  It's a weak excuse, and I apologize.  However, seeing as FARP has disappeared (aka, not responded to any of my emails), and also seeing that the new setup to this website would actually be conductive to spreading a good tutorial (as opposed to having to wade through bad ones in the tutorials section before you find a good one, you could just look through good artists' favorites, and if you see a tutorial in there, it would be easy to follow that link and see it yourself), I hope this picture does indeed make it through the line.

This basically came about from myself looking through the galleries and finding out that other artists who draw in my style (anime/manga) DON'T KNOW HOW TO COLOR.  I look at their pictures and my eyes start BLEEDING because they are SHINY.  Few (if any) of these proliferate highlights make any sense, regarding physics and the reflection/refraction of light, and the shadows get skimped on.  I looked through over one hundred galleries and found very very few anime/manga artists that I can say actually color okay, and none that color brilliantly.

Granted, I'm not perfect either.  I admit this.  I even wrote it in the picture (part one).  If you really want a good tutorial, I suggest hitting up DA giants like adonis, GunnerRomantic, HOON, Zen-Master, GraySapphire, shel-yang (for watercolors), GENZOMAN, Cushart, Wen-M...the list goes on.  There are many people a lot better than I am.  This, as I said before, is what I consider an introduction.  It's not that hard to do.

The names of tools I use are for Photoshop, so I apologize if you don't have that particular program.  I don't know what these tools would be called in other programs, so please bear with me.  If you have a question, feel free to ask; I'll answer the best I can.
