I don't think it would be suited for any Islamic/Ottoman empire's soldier, because I had thought there was something about covering up the women's flesh. However, I do think pre-islamic arabian mythology and faith held a reverence for female-warriors. "A woman's presence at a battle is an inspiration (rather like a goddess figure) common to the Arabs, in the pre-Islamic tradition of the Lady of Victory. This Lady of Victory, her hair flowing and her body party exposed, appealed to valor and passion." From a site of Zenobia of Palmrya's biography.
She could be a Persian or Sassanid (Late-persian) warrior, or a fantasy group that was based on them, I think.
For a name? Something to capture feminity with warfare, perhaps. "Bow-women of Artemis" defeats the idea of being Near-eastern (if not following a greek pantheon, but a faith indigenous to the region), but Artemis was a huntress and it could work..

| 21 Jul 2009 | Ben Noddeland | Loading...to Sahran - premuslim arabia was even stricter with women’s place in society. Take greeks - just because Athena was the goddess of wisdom and strategy, didn’t mean that they held the female mind very highly.
Also - awesome picture. Love it. (possibly except for the bare belly.)
