Due to having lots on my plate over the past year I have neglected my prose writing. Oh, I kept up with poetry, as that's something you can do in a spare moment and be done with it after one rereading. I'm back in school, and have other responsibilities, but I really am going to make efforts to keep this page running and being updated. Swift kicks in the pants have been known to help with this--email variations as well ;)
As always, comments and critiques are more than welcome--they are really required! Think of it as payment for being able to read an author's work free of monetary charge. As you read anything, you always have thoughts [Oh, I would have done that differently, or Hmm, that sentence/paragraph made me reread it twice, its not very well written, or What a boring/lackluster title! This story better be good to make up for it, or What a flat, one dimensional character--is there anything else to her?]. Any number of things go through your mind--and even if you aren't a writer or feel that your opinion is in some way not good enough I beg of you to at least drop a small note to me at kailing-.NOSPAM.-@davidbowie.com with your thoughts if you are too shy to post here for all to see.
For believe it or not, even truly negative commentary can be useful.
Brief rundown of my current offerings:
Mortal Utterings: No-end-in-sight story about a lad who gets chosen to learn an interesting profession and helps to turn it and the lives of the people he touches upside down. Currently unfinished.
The Dragon's Sword: Beowulf from a very off-the-beaten-path point of view. Finished Short.
Into the Depths of Hell, My Cat Led Me: Abandon hope, all ye who enter here. Welcome, all, to my own personal Hell. Finished Short.
Kiarrith's Story: Bit mundane story/background for a character I used to play. Hopefully won't be the only story she features in! Finished Short.
Unplanned Trip: Odd bit of dream/surrealism. Finished Short.
Ziane: Young woman goes unwillingly on a journey, finds her self, her inner strength, and her destiny. Currently unfinished.
