SciFi and Fantasy Art Indian Paintbrush by Kristina Layton

In Plains Indian legend, a young brave tried to paint the sunset with his warpaints, but found he could not capture the brilliance of nature. One night, the Great Spirit came to him in his sleep and told him to go look in the hills. The next evening, he walked to the foothills and found paintbrushes full of exactly the colors he needed. He used them to paint his masterpiece, then left them in the earth where he found them, where they grew to cover the hills with the color of sunset.

2.5x3.5 inches, acrylic and ink on illustration board. Her dress and cradleboard are of Cheyenne design.
